This program will review the recent history of the "Gig Economy," current trends in the labor market here in Santa Monica, throughout California and nationwide, the labor and tax laws that regulate the “Gig Economy," the risks facing employers who misclassify their employees as independent contractors and the laws that are being introduced and passed to address this growing trend. This program will also discuss other issues intersecting the "Gig Economy," such as changing land use issues, alternative work schedules and locations and the other changes to the traditional career-based economy.
Eve Wagner is a founding partner of Sauer & Wagner LLP, a boutique civil trial practice firm, established in 1997. Prior to forming Sauer & Wagner LLP, Ms. Wagner was an equity partner of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP. Ms. Wagner also served as Law Clerk to the Hon. William P. Gray, U.S. District Court. Ms. Wagner has extensive experience in federal and state courts and has handled numerous matters in alternative dispute resolution forums, including arbitrations and mediations. Ms. Wagner has been involved in numerous high profile cases, several of which have been the subject of extensive print and television media coverage. Steve Danz is senior partner of Stephen Danz & Associates, located in Brentwood, with 15 attorneys throughout the State representing employees only throughout California. He has written extensively on labor and employment law and has presented at various NELA, CELA and and CAOC seminars.
