Come join the Santa Monica Bar Association at Bodega Wine Bar for Tuesday's Toast, a monthly event to meet and mingle with fellow attorneys, professionals and friends.
This SMBA Toast will have a Charity Fundraising & Donation Drive benefiting Sojourn, a non-profit associated with The People Concern (formerly called OPCC). October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we are partnering with Sojourn to raise awareness and help victims of Domestic Violence.
Founded in 1977, OPCC's Sojourn was the second domestic violence shelter to open in California. With a full range of services designed to provide safety, stability, ongoing support and violence prevention programs, Sojourn is a client-first, community-integrated network that seeks to improve the well-being of families and stop the cycles of violence.
Sojourn Services include: 24-Hour Hotline, Interim Housing, Children’s Program, Support Groups, DV Classes, Legal Assistance, Outreach and Prevention Programs.
In a year, we serve over 2,100 individuals, primarily women survivors of domestic violence.
96% Percentage of high school freshmen who could identify abusive behaviors after participating in domestic violence prevention training.
Each facet of Sojourn is another avenue through which we can address the issue of violence in our society—and another opportunity through which we can stop destructive cycles.
Please consider bringing donations to Tuesday’s Toast. Donations of socks, underwear, toiletries, art supplies, school supplies and gift cars will be accepted. Monetary donations will also be accepted (via check or credit card). Donations over $50.00 will receive a purple ribbon. **All donations are tax-deductible.
Suggested Contributions:
$10 will transport a client to a safe location
$25 will provide a backpack w/school supplies for a child
$50 will provide a child w/school clothing and shoes
$100 will buy tools and supplies for the vegetable garden
